Generator Installation

Nothing is more important to Southern Reliant Electric, Inc. than our customers' safety, comfort or ease of mind. What can be more comforting than not having to worry about the electricity going out during the next storm? Southern Reliant Electric, Inc. offers many different forms of generator installation to provide our customers with a choice of the "right" generator to meet their needs. Southern Reliant Electric, Inc. is an authorized Generac dealer.

Generator Disconnects

Southern Reliant Electric, Inc. can install a disconnect for your portable generator anywhere along an exterior wall of your home. This allows you to move your generator to a location of your choosing and hook it to your house to power select circuits in your home during a time of power loss, using a proper cord to connect your generator to your disconnect. This cord can be provided by yourself or Southern Reliant Electric, Inc. can custom build you one of any length with connectors that match your generator and disconnect.

Permanent Generator Installation

Southern Reliant Electric, Inc. can can also install a permanent generator for your home. After gauging the power usage of your home, a generator of proper wattage can be installed at any location on your home with either a manual disconnect or an automatic transfer switch. The manual disconnect would require you to go to the location of the disconnect during a time of power loss to switch your home from primary power to generator power. The automatic transfer switch monitors the flow of primary power to your house. Once a loss is detected, the automatic transfer switches your home from primary power to generator power and starts the generator. When primary power returns, the automatic transfer switches your home from generator power back to primary power, and sends the generator into its shutdown sequence.

Attic Fan Installation

Southern Reliant Electric, Inc. can install attic ventilation fans for your home that can save you money over time.

"Almost all residential roofs receive significant solar exposure in the summer. Without proper ventilation, intense solar radiation can drive roof and attic temperatures above 140° F. These high temperatures make cooling systems work harder. In the winter, good attic ventilation is needed to remove moisture from the air to minimize moisture build up and condensation damage to insulation. Condensation damage can significantly reduce the R-value — the ability to resist heat transfer — of the insulating material and increase heating and cooling costs.Good air circulation requires a balanced ventilation system that utilizes the stack effect, which is caused by differences in air temperature between the lowest and highest vent openings. The term stack effect comes from the way an old-fashioned stove works. Cold air is drawn into the hot stove by the temperature and pressure differences created by hot air in the stack. The cold air is heated and rises to the top, pulling more cold air into the stove."Source: Reliant Energy

 Ceiling Fans and Lighting

Adding ceiling fans to your home not only adds beauty and value to your home, but can help lower energy costs. Setting your fans to the proper direction according to the season can either help keep the cooler air down low while pushing the warm air up away from living areas or can keep the warmer air in the living areas while pushing cooler air upwards. Southern Reliant Electric, Inc. can install ceiling fans virtually anywhere you can imagine to be controlled as you wish.

Recessed Lighting

Recessed lighting can add beauty and value to your home, while serving many functions by:

  • Adding style to a room
  • Adding lighting to a room or specific area
  • Making a room feel larger by "pushing" the walls out
  • Highlighting artwork with eyeball trims
  • Focus lighting for reading

Flood Lights and Security Lighting

Adding flood lights or security lights to your home can add lighting to the exterior of your home for many applications from lighting the back porch to adding light for your exterior security system. Flood lights add lighting to specific, focused areas while many security lights "flood" a larger area with light. Both styles of light can be put on manual switches, motion detectors, sensors that automatically turn the light on at sunset, or any combination of the three.  (Note: The lights displayed are not the only styles, designs, or colors available for flood and security lighting. Many designs are available for each.)

Southern Reliant Electric, Inc. can put GFCI's in the place of any outlet in or around your home or add new GFCI's throughout your home or property. When the device has "tripped," or sensed an electrical short and deactivated itself for your safety, the reset button pops out and the yellow light shines. Once the short has been cleared simply push the reset button to turn the device back on and the light will go out, allowing your GFCI to function as normal.
